In 2024, I had the honor of being selected as one of the mural artists for the fourth annual Sunny Dayz Mural Fest, chosen from over 500 applicants. Sunny Dayz is a mural festival dedicated to celebrating and empowering female and gender minority artists through public art. This mural was completed solo in 5 days!

Location: Ponca City, Oklahoma
My mural is fueled by my love and awe for aviation along with the natural world. A career as a commercial pilot was never something I imagined could be in my grasp, it remained distant and dreamlike. Capturing that childlike fascination I had and still feel each time I go up for a flight lesson was incomparable. My mission is to continue to give back this feeling and help lower the barriers for other girls and youth as a whole exploring the field of aviation. The tail number on the plane is the date of my first solo in a Cessna 172 (third time soloing overall). Runway 17 represents the local airport of Ponca City where this mural was painted.
As for the nature… it’s what I love painting the most! The orange blossoms on the left symbolize my roots in Central Florida while the hibiscus represents my Caribbean heritage. The lily, hydrangea, and pansies signify my passion, gratitude, and love for this art form and are also some of my favorite flowers. I’ve always loved the painted look of rattlesnake plants and was a last minute, unplanned addition I felt would fit in perfectly.
The painted bunting atop the paint can draws on the intimate tie I admire between art and our natural world. While painting this I learned that a flock of them are called a mural! Can’t get any better than that.
